Hey! lets look at old animatics!

So, to comemorate JJ and I getting off of our asses and plotting down the next (short) David Hammerfist Adventure, I thought I'd post an old animatic.

The timing isnt as crisp and there are a few changes, but this was the second animatic JJ and I had for David Hammerfist: Hammerfists of Fury. It's pretty close to the final version, but the opening is different and there are a couple great one liners that never made the final cut.

I'm sure JJ doesn't want anyone to see this which is why I'm posting it. If anyone is curious to how much Better JJ and I have gotten, just multiply the animatic quality by 1000%....when referring to JJ, and -1000% when referring to me.

Anyway, here's the link to the Vimeo. People still use that, right?

Untitled from Hammerfist Productions on Vimeo.

Someday I'll post something non-Hammerfist. Maybe.

The Statement of Randolph Carter

Hey friends! YouTube is awesome. Put your fun stuff online and people might hire you to do fun things!
Case in point:
A fellow named Doug Simon saw my Danger: Frogs Attack! videos and got in touch with me. After a bit of back and forth he hired me to do sound design (but not the music) for this...

I hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to feed critical feedback on any aspect of this, sound design, animation, character design etc. The director is open to thoughtful feedback and he's planning on doing future adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft's short stories, so anything that can be improved on in future projects will be duly noted! (I would also encourage you to watch their first HP Lovecraft adaptation called "The Terrible Old Man" to see the improvement since the last project...)

Anyway, hope everybody's summer is going rad. Mine is hectic so far, but awesome.

Love,
Brian E. Engh

Some more art stuffs

Hey guys!

First up is the colored version of the picture I posted last week, the one I did for my sister.

Next we've got a piece of concept art, I suppose. I'm kicking around and idea with my buddy Franz about a girl in modern times that's got a pet velociraptor. I did this one with 2b pencil and some super cheap gouache I got from Graphaids. Feedback would be greatly appreciated on this one!

Last is a page from the 24hr Comic Contest I did in October. I penciled the whole thing way back then, but decided to touch up the pencils and ink them over the weekend. Here's the page I did. It's page 3 of 24.

Enjoy!

Dedication Page

Hey chaps,
Here's a little before/after piece I put together.

Last September I did a drawing for my sister's yearbook dedication page. Recently my dad asked me to make a poster out of it. With a fresh set of eyes I looked at the piece and decided to re-draw it.

I've wanted to do a before/after for a long time, to show how my drawing has changed/evolved over the past year or so, and I think this is a really great way to show it. I'll post a color version later.

Just technical info, the top picture was done on sketchbook paper with Micron pens. The bottom picture was done on Bristol Board with ink and brush.

Senior Thesis Extravaganza 09

In honor of the LMU Animation screening that goes on tonight, I'd like to proudly present to you a video of epic proportions that got left on the cutting room floor of last years screening. Enjoy.

Oh yeah sorry for the low quality.
